yarn love

16 May

So it has been a bit since I posted last but I have been crafting away and have pictures to share of what I have been doing. First up is a pair of socks I decided to make for me. The colors are very pretty and I love seeing how the stripes evolve.

Next up is some granny squares I am whipping together for a blanket to give an old friend of my husband. She has known him since she was little and she deserves to be spoiled alittle since she is always working long hard hours at two jobs. I thought a nice throw blanket to relax with on her rare time off would be nice. I am making squares in blue tones, green tones and beige tones then I will use a nice dark brown to border the whole thing. I have 12 squares completed.

I have not forgotten the baby blanket I wrote about in my last post. It is completed I just need to snap some photos and write up the pattern to share with the internet world. It worked up very quickly and beautifully. I can not wait to share the completed photos. Hope everyone who drops by my page has a lovely week. 🙂

busy, busy

Things have been a little hectic around my place so I haven’t been able to post to the blog again. I will put forth an effort to post at least a couple days a week. I have managed in my absence to get some photos of the two main things I am working on at the moment. The first is a really cute baby blanket. The pattern makes a nice bumpy, solid and squishy material. The yarn I used was Bernat Softee Baby. The main color is Sweet and Sunny. The border color is Soft Peach. I love the way it is turning out and the baby it is going to will hopefully love it as much as I do 😉

Here is a close up of the pattern. It’s a single crochet  and half double crochet in the same stitch and is a soothing pattern to work. I will write it up soon and post it. I haven’t decided whether to sell the pattern or give it for free. I am leaning towards free 😉 I am still deciding on a border for the blanket. I want something feminine so I will probably play around with it till I have what I am happy with. I am thinking something frilly or ruffled.

My other project I want to share is a pair of worsted weight wool socks I am knitting for my husband for Christmas. He hates having cold feet in the winter (I know, who doesn’t) so I am making these hoping they will keep him toasty warm.

I am using two different yarns for the sock. I had a random ball of black wool in my stash that has shades of gray mixed in. That I am using for the leg of the sock and a matching gray cascade 220 yarn for the foot of the sock. I’m still a little rusty with the picking up stitches at the heel but I am working it out. The pattern is from crochetandknitting.com. Its called Sue’s Knitted Socks for Men. http://www.crochetandknitting.com/

Well I hope you all have a good day and I will be getting a free pattern around to post shortly. 🙂

Hello world!

18 Apr

This is my first blog post and thought I would introduce what this blog will be mainly about. I will post crafts that I am currently working on and other sites or news I find interesting around the web. I also plan to offer a free pattern I have created once a month along with links to my etsy page where you can buy other patterns I create. I hope to keep this blog going and create a nice community for other crafters.
